AND1 TAKES OVER CAMPUS

On the 13th of May 2011 (Friday) UKZN PMB experienced an ‘action packed, high jumping and styling’ basketball showcase. The AND1 team invaded our basketball court to the presence of a large crowd. The “Activation” showcase was a prelude to their main event in Durban, Westville campus on Saturday and was brought to us by big sponsors such as DStv, AND1, KZNBA along with Pietermaritzburgs own FratLife Events and Marketing. The Activation was part of a campaign by AND1 that promotes healthy living, no to drugs & alcohol and safe sex. This campaign has been held all over the world to thousands of attendees. The team boasts of 10 professional streetball players in all

 

With awesome talents for viewing, Philip ‘Hot Sauce’ Champain and ‘UFO’ were the definite crowd pleasers and favourites. Terrel Alston aka ‘Stringer Rell’, who is part of management of the team and is also MC for the team, was lively on the mic. Keeping the crowd excited and entertained, he kept saying headline grabbing catchphrases like “OH! Huge Helium Ball,.. Watch it! Watch it! Here comes UFO… OH!! [DUNK] that’s how he does it!” The team is not made up of US players only but African players too, like ‘Polo’ the Ugandian born player. When asked about his experience in the AND1 team, he had this to say “You must know that you at the top of  your game when you picked to play for this team. I been playing with the team for little over a year now and the transition is easy’
